The Economist magazine award Toronto first place in its search for the best city in the world to live in. And no, it's not because of Toronto's beautiful waterfront or friendly citizens (though everything counts in the end). The magazine's decision was based on an aggregation of indexes, including safety, cost of living, business environment, and livability. It also looked at Global Food Security Index and Democracy, which are evaluated on a national level.
If that's not all, Toronto was found to be the safest city in North America, coming in at 8th place in the world (among mid and large sized cities). Not too shabby. You can mark that up as another reason why Toronto is a place you'll want to raise a family. In fact, Toronto ranked in the top 10 in almost every single one of the categories reviewed by the Economists. It fell short only when it came to cost of living, but that's true of all other cities that ranked in the top 10 - and all of them were still more expensive than Toronto.
Nice to see Toronto getting some much deserved recognition for being a pretty amazing place to live.
